The Women of Mad Men

Mad Men is a show set in the 1960's in Manhattan. Life is fun and exciting, men are men and women are women but life is changing. It's an age of innocence - where pregnant women smoke, dinner is on the table for you when you get home, you have a black house keeper, casual anti-Semitism and sexual harassment are acceptable and a divorcee is sexy & intriguing. Mad Men is all about lives of the men of the Madison Avenue advertising firm Sterling Cooper but you just can't help but notice the women. They are strong, sexy and provocative and of course they have a fantastic wardrobe. The show is only in it's second season and you just know that after watching a few episodes you're going to be vintage shopping!

Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) is a junior copy writer from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Although she looks more sophisticated in the first picture she's usually a bit more the mousey schoolgirl, wearing blouses and pleated skirts, hiding her fabulous body. She believes that being one of the companies first female copy writers since the war means that her smarts count for something.

Betty Draper (January Jones) - Wife of Don Draper, the Creative Director for the Sterling Cooper ad agency. Betty is the perfect housewife and seems to become more and more perfect as the show progresses. She's immaculate. She has all the time in the world for perfection: the petticoats, the girdles, the stockings,  the slip, the bra and perfect hair. If she's not in a full skirt and fitted bodice she's in the perfect sweater and cigarette pants.

Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks) is the office manager and she has great assets. She looks like she can break any man: she's engaged to a doctor and having an affair with Roger Sterling, a partner at Sterling Cooper. Joan is confident and believes that a woman's sensuality is her strongest device. Joan dresses in jewel colours and her dresses are tight and cut to perfection, showing off every curve!
