New York Fashion Week
It's my favourite time of year again, no not Christmas- it's fashion week.I've started out in NY working on the Teen Vogue show in association for ASOS (which is has just launched in the USA). The Teen Vogue show was on NY's fashion night out which was busier than New Year's Eve in Times Square! Worked with the wonderful makeup artist Anthea King and sponsored by Mark Cosmetics which is the teen makeup line of AVON cosmetics. Anthea created 2 varied looks for the show. A simple fresh shimmer day look-coral cheeks, nude eyes with a top line of black into the lashes and a coral pink lipstick ( coral fixation) pressed into the lip & the second look was more evening. This look consisted of the same, eyes, cheeks and lips as the day look but had a heavier cat eye kohl rimmed eye-very Sophia Loren.The next day I was working in the Marchesa show room making up fashion's "it girl" Olivia Palermo for OK! Magazine's fashion week issue (the American version out next week). Olivia was a dream to makeup with her perfect cheek bones and amazing sun kissed clear complexion. She was super sweet and very polite and best of all lovedthe gentle smokey eye look I created for her. (I added a dot of MAC pink pearl pigment on her eye lids to really make them pop).Later on in the week, I was working with another of fashion darlings that came into town and one of my favourite clients Louise Roe. I arrived at her NY hotel super early in the morning to make sure she looked her stunning best for each interview and event she needed to attend. Luckily though I had the opportunity to find time in my own hectic schedule to hit a few fashion parties, such as the OK! magazine event, a fabulous dinner for designer William Tempest's first showing in NY and the Bebe after show party (which Louise was the celebrity star host for).All in all a lovely mix of work this NY fashion week. Just the right amount this season to not tire me out too much for London- where I have just landed this morning. Now off to prep for PPQ's show at Somerset house!Written by Rachel Wood
