Nosferatu  -The Symphony of Horror

I love watching films outdoors - but I didn't realize there'd be a full orchestra and choir! It was a unique collaboration between soundscapers Minima, Paul Ayres’ Queldryk Choral Ensemble and Hackney based spatial artist Lucy Jones created a re-imagined film score and performance for the 90th anniversary of the 1922 film. Nosferatu is a classic German Expressionist horror film, directed by F. W. Murnau, based on Bram Stoker's Dracula.  I loved Nosfertu's look, the early cinematic make-up and costumes were great, when you see a film like this you understand what so many of our modern villains are based on.

It was such a magical evening, of course the film was brilliant and the music was exquisite but the atmosphere was truly festive. It just feels nice to have strangers chatting to one another, everyone was friendly and after each act in the film the crowd earnestly cheered!  I'm always delighted when you experience a cultural event with a group of strangers and you feel part of something. When you see a film in the cinema it's really such a solo experience.
