Jay Briggs presents 'Melusina' at Fashion Scout

Jay Briggs is not shy to talk about the realities of what it is to be a new designers and he's not a afraid of a lot of hard work. He's in it for the long haul and even while creating this collection he was working full time in retail. This was Jay's first presentation since graduating from Salford University in 2013. Jay read Anna Wintour's interview on i-D about new designers doing a presentation and knew that this was the right approach for him. It was more intimate and allowed him a more creative approach to show just 6 looks. The presentation took place during London Fashion Week at Fashion Scout upstairs in the opulent art deco Freemason Hall. It was the perfect setting for Briggs' Melusina inspired collection. His muse, one model was dressed in white moved so slowly that you had to look twice, she was surrounded by mannequins dressed in black with feathers, heads covers and a great detail of hand beaded work. The collection is romantic but there is also something dark, sinister about it.Since Jay's presentation Paloma Faith has already worn his signature white dress (a new colour for him as his previous collection was all black) and Kylie is wearing one of his headpieces in her video! What's next for Mr Briggs: he's already working on several couture pieces.
