Have you been to the GAP lately?

imageI don't know when I last went to the GAP - it's really been so long ago that I don't remember. A friend said to me recently have you been to the GAP lately, you really should go. I knew that Rebekka Bay launched COS in 2006 and had joined GAP in October 2012 but that Gap Inc. reported a 5 percent dip in sales for the first quarter of 2014 - I was curious to see how she would re-shape the brand.  Sometimes it just takes a couple of seasons to sort everything out. I was genuinely surprized to see so many on trend, but not trendy, clean lined items such as shirt dresses, Breton stripes, and a-lined skirts.  I do love a black dress that nips in at the waist - it's like a uniform for me and there were quite a few different options available all for about £49.00. There were some great floral camouflage prints in purple or blue and a great denim dress. It was all surprisingly easy but still chic. They even have some leather tote bags for £89.95 and classic ankle boots for £89.95. GAP had very well made trench coats on special for only £29.00 from £49.00 plus it was lined and had lots of detail with nice finishing - with a good pressing it would look quite chic. My only comment was that so many of the garments weren't steamed or pressed - but maybe that doesn't matter if they look good on the mannequins and in the campaigns. I don't expect all retailers to stream their garments but part of me can't help but believe it makes a difference to the customer. No matter how great a collection is it's how it's presented that counts, I'm not sure but if they want to get back to basics but they should watch how the merchandise actually looks once it's hit the shop floor. Saying all that a few creases won't stop me from buying a dress. I can steam it myself.imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage
