DEPRESSION, by Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh in Singapore
I'm loving Singaporean fashion label DEPRESSION by Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh. Lim and Loh named their fashion label DEPRESSION as a sign of empowerment: when you feel unhappy you have the power to change how you feel. I did feel pretty good when I tried on their collection! I had a chance to meet them briefly today and they seemed pretty cheerful and exceptionally cool! They have also have a second label called ‘NOT COOL ENOUGH’ aka NCE - I love a label with a good name! I went to visit their shop in Orchard Gateway, a huge mall below my hotel. The shop is very open and spacious and it feels like a warehouse/garage space with lots of concrete and metal, and the staff are friendly with none of the pretentious attitude that one might expect at some shops in London. Lim and Loh offer several other brands at their shop plus their two in-house labels. At this location (the have another shop just a few malls away) they feature mainly their menswear collection, but it all feels quite unisex. There are oversized sweatshirts, jackets combining sharp tailoring and draping using cotton and silk  in shades of black, grey and white. All the items can easily be layered - which works for the humid climate in Singapore because you're always going from outside into cool air conditioned buildings.DEPRESSION is showing at Digital Fashion Week Singapore on Sunday November 2nd
