Missguided Interactive Press Day
Yesterday I attended the Miss Guided press day. It was held at one of my favourite locations, 33 Great Portland Street, which gave me more incentive to go. I've done several shoots there and you might recognize the room in the image below as it was used for the King's Speech.
Online companies tend to do their press days for the current season, so this was a Spring/Summer press day instead of an Autumn/Winter 2013 press day, which is what designers are doing.
This was time first time at a press day when being ask to signed in, they also asked your include you twitter account - which make sense as it's an online company. They even suggest you instagram any pics you take!
I went to a press day for Miss Guided a few seasons ago and since then they've had record sales growth - they made total annual sales of £14.7m for 2011 and in 2010 they won the Drapers Best New Etailer. So even though it's a brand that I don't regularly use for shoots it's one to watch! I really want to see the brand again to see how it's changed. This past year we've seen several online retailers do television adds and Miss Guided was one of them. This past year they've employed an in-house design team and I think you can see a difference from previous collections - even the quality seems better. Miss Guided focuses on young fashion and is trend-lead, which lately includes festival wear, studding and fringing.
It make sense for an online brand to hold special events for blogger as this press day also included a bloggers styling challenge and you could also customize a garment and then you could keep too!
