The Lulu Guinness Paint Project with Joseph Steele
Lulu Guinness teamed up with street artist Joseph Steele who has been hailed as the new Damien Hirst for The Lulu Guinness Paint Project. The event took place at the Old Sorting Office on Oxford Street with "explosions" happening through out the evening. I arrived for the first explosion. There was quite a bit of anticipation in the crowd as no one really knew what to expect but we all gathered at 21.15 and suddenly there was a huge bang and out of the canon shot red paint, hitting the The Hug and Hold clutchs.
This isn't Joseph's first explosion: he's dressed two full size mannequins and then blew them up with a combination of gloss paint, he's blasted copper hoping to create a flower type shape and my favourite was that he set fire to one of his "failed works". Lulu and Joseph met through the London agency CrimeLAB part of Beautiful Crime, who organize collaborations between artists and brands.
Lulu and Joseph will create 180 bags, selling 3 of them on eBay with proceeds going to The Art Room, a charity that does art therapy to help children.

Lots of celebrities including the very cute Talia Storm and Tessie Hartmann.
Me and Courtney Blackman!
It was quite a popular event as there was a constant queue!
Update: Just passed a shop this morning and saw that the painted bags already on display!
