It takes a lot of nurturing and support to become a designer. The transition from student to designer is a huge step and it's not for everyone. Fashion Scout has been nurturing new talent since it's first Ones to Watch 9 seasons ago.For the past few years I have been a panelist at Fashion Scout, this season Hilary Alexander, David Koma, Eudon Choi, Jessica Bumpus and Stavros Karelis were also on the selection committee. More than 250 designers apply to show at Fashion Scout and we select the designers who will be part of the Ones to Watch show and the Merit Award Winner. This season's Merit Award Winner is Yulia Kondranina. She wins an initiative worth £25,000 towards her businesss including a fully sponsored catwalk show and exhibition at both London and Paris Fashion Week. Previous Merit Award winners include William Tempest, David Koma, Eudon Choi, Georgia Hardinge, Leutton Posotle, Phoebe English, Heohwan Simulation and Yifang Wan.Over the past few years Fashion Scout has supported some incredible talent including Iris Van Herpen, Dean Quinn, Hermione de Paula, David Longshaw, Anne Sofie Madsen, Agi & Sam, Peter Pilotto, Felder Felder and Baartman and Siegel.The Ones to Watch will be announced in the next few weeks!
