Digital Lavender SS23 Trends
Who else is wearing lavender and why? When I was in high school my favourite nail polish colour was called “Pink Lilac In Love”, since then it’s a colour I’ve always cherished. I’ve been busy working on trend predictions for clients and I’ve been dreaming about colours.
Lavender symbolizes purity, devotion, and love. We think of France and lavender fields, romance and the scent of lavender - we love when a colour has a scent it makes us feel even more connected to the colour. And connectivity is still one of the biggest trends for 2023. Digital Lavender 134-67-16 has an unreal feel. Purple is the colour of royalty it’s elegant and luxurious. Purple is the colour of the crown chakra -the energy centre associated with a higher purpose and spiritual connectivity.
Coloro head of content Joanne Thomas told Cosmetics Business. “Digital Lavender, our Color of the Year for 2023, signifies that stability, serenity, and digital escapism that so many of us have built into our recuperative rituals to both protect and improve our mental health in challenging times.”
if a colour can give me a sense of purpose, serenity, and escapism I’m going to wear it. We all know colour has an impact, and not just on how we feel about ourselves but it influences anyone we come into contact with. I’ve been wearing lavender for a couple of seasons and there is something easy about it. It’s become one of my go-to colours. Digital Lavender is often referred to as the adult pink - it’s more sophisticated allowing for it to be worn on more frequently including to the office and in professional situations - it’s not just for occasion wear anymore.
There are so many shades and tones of Digital Lavender that it’s an easy addition to your wardrobe. I’ll be wearing lots of it and catching the vibes of my youth “Pink Lilac In Love”
Jenny Joseph FRSL (7 May 1932 – 15 April 2018) was an English poet, best known for the poem "Warning"
WARNING
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people’s gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
