New fabrics like Mirum are changing the way we think about fashion it’s exciting and innovation is key. Brands like Felder Felder, Camper, Brave Gentleman, All Birds, Bellroy, Melina Butchar, Segan and Stella McCartney use Mirum in their collection.
What is Mirum?
Natural Fiber Welding developed Mirum the plant-based, biodegradable vegan leather made from agricultural waste and virgin natural materials. It’s a durable material created by bonding together natural composites and can decompose naturally. Mirum is made using a closed-loop system that does not use any petroleum-based plastics and produces no waste. Its raw materials are natural, biodegradable polymers, and the finished product is not coated in polyurethane, making it a high-quality, sustainable design option.
"Mirum is the first plant-based material that doesn't rely on plastic resins, glues, or coatings. We've engineered a high-performance material using nothing but the strength and diversity of plant-based polymers," said Luke Haverhals, Founder of NFW who produces Mirum. "We believe that renewable resources give us everything we need to sustain life on earth and live fully – with beautiful consumer products that enhance our lives and our wellbeing. We're excited to be partnering with a brand that shares this ethos and embodies it in full."
